Good news for ECM users

A recent Gartner report predicts that the ECM market will grow at a rate of 12 percent per year, which means by 2010 the worldwide market for content management will be valued at US$4.2 billion.

The reason for this growth is attributed to the need for organisations to take control of all their business information. Be it structured or unstructured data, including word processing documents, spreadsheets, presentations or email, these all need to be controlled and be seen as a strategic asset for an organisation.

By making their business information easily available to employees and customers, organisations will be able to automate their business processes, increase efficiency and lower costs.

Gartner believes that the consolidation within the ECM market will mean good news for users, as the quality, performance and usability of content management systems will continue to improve.
