Content Manager OnDemand Overview

IBM's Content Manager OnDemand is a report archive and retrieval solution that enables print files, reports, statements, images, AFP, Postscript, and a variety of other digitised document file types to be captured, indexed, compressed and stored for instant retrieval by users in its original form at any workstation or internet station.

For example, a monthly customer invoice processing run is completed, and the printed bills dispatched to clients. The resultant print file can then be processed by OnDemand to:

  • Index each invoice by customer name, account number, address, balance, etc
  • Compress the files for affordable storage, disk saving,
  • Store the compressed print file on disk or optical jukebox for immediate retrieval by staff to their desktop workstation.

Staff are able to retrieve replica bill/invoice copies within seconds for viewing, ad-hoc printing or faxing directly to the customer.

The OnDemand eBusiness solution is available on the NT, Unix-Sun/AIX/HP, AS/400, and OS/390 platforms.

Document access via PC stations the Internet is available together with built in security features and extensive document access reporting. OnDemand can be integrated with application workflow and document imaging applications where appropriate.

OnDemand systems handle mass import of computer generated output. Usually, the input consists of thousands to millions of reports or statements,, such as Bank Credit card statements, or monthly account activity statements, generated by core business applications.

Indexes for each document are created automatically during the OnDemand capture process, through analysing the input stream and locating predefined data.
